by Samuel Beckett
MONDAY 27 and TUESDAY July 28, 2026 – 6 p.m.
Chapelle des Carmes – Apt
Acted and directed by Clara Simpson

Pas Moi/ Not l is a haunting, sonic masterpiece in which an unnamed woman, visible only by her mouth, fights for survival as both her mind and mouth spiral out of control.
Pas Moi/ Not I is performed seamlessly by Clara Simpson, first in French and then in English, Beckett’s two languages, in a performance of extraordinary intensity. Simpson has spent more than twenty years interpreting Beckett in Ireland and France, bringing rare insight and precision to one of his most notorious texts.
This bilingual performance offers a unique opportunity to experience the playwright’s words as they move between the languages that shaped his artistic journey. Both a remarkable feat of performance and a fascinating exploration of language, memory, and identity, Pas Moi/ Not I reveals Beckett at his most daring, unsettling, and exhilarating.
«If each generation has it’s premiere Beckett artist…Clara Simpson gives voice to Beckett for our current generation” Stanley Gontarski.
