CARTE BLANCHE TO VALÈRE NOVARINA

followed by TALKING TO ANIMALS

interprété par André Marcon

“A man talks to animals, that is to say, to beings that have no answers. He addresses three hundred mute eyes. He delivers Talking to Animals, which takes the form of a series of eleven ‘walks,’ or a voyage into the interior—that is to say, above all, a voyage into his own language and words. A man talks to animals, thus speaking about things we don’t speak about: of what we experience, for example, when we are carried to our extremes, torn apart, in the greatest darkness, wordless and close to a resolution, to a light.”

In 1986, André Marcon performed The Animal of Time, the world premiere of the first part of Talking to Animals by Valère Novarina (published by P.O.L). He now regularly revisits the show, which continues to haunt him: it always offers something different, like a forest we know well but which always appears different, depending on the light, or the weather.
